Crispy Seasoned Kale Chips
Homemade kale chips that are perfectly crispy and addictively delicious. Far superior to store-bought versions, these chips can be seasoned to your preference.
Prep time: 10 minutes | Cook time: 12-15 minutes | Serves: 2-3
Ingredients
- 1 large bunch fresh kale (about 8 oz.), stems removed
- 2 T. extra virgin olive oil
- 1 t. sea salt
- Black pepper, to taste
- Optional seasonings: garlic powder, paprika, nutritional yeast, or cinnamon and sea salt
Preparation
-
Prepare kale: Rinse kale and pat completely dry with paper towels. Remove tough center stems and tear into bite-sized pieces.
-
Toss: Place kale in a large bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with sea salt and pepper. Toss gently until all pieces are coated.
-
Season: Add any optional seasonings if desired and toss again.
-
Arrange: Spread kale pieces in a single layer on rimmed baking sheets, avoiding overlap.
-
Bake: Bake at 300°F for 12-15 minutes until crispy and edges are lightly browned. Watch carefully to avoid burning.
-
Cool: Remove from oven and let cool for 2 minutes on the pan (they will crisp further as they cool).
-
Serve: Enjoy immediately or store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
Notes
The key to perfect kale chips is making sure the leaves are completely dry before baking and arranging them so they don’t overlap.
