This dish is more than just a breakfast; it’s a mindful and nourishing way to start your day. Whole grains are a very nutritious way to start the day. Oats and corn make a good 50:50 mix, but feel free to just try different ones and mix.
Serves: 2
Ingredients
- 80-100g freshly ground, pounded or flaked grains (you need to break them open for them to soak up the liquid when cooking — doing this yourself ensures you keep all the valuable nutrients in your breakfast; ready-made flakes and oatmeal have been in the packet for weeks and the essential oils and vitamins have gone)
- 1 almond and 1 walnut
- 4-5 raisins
- 1 tsp honey
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
- A pinch of cinnamon or cinnamon masala
Preparation
-
Start by cooking your freshly ground, pounded, or flaked grains with water or milk, following the recommended cooking instructions on the packaging. Stir occasionally until the grains are creamy and tender.
-
While your grains are cooking, chop the almond and walnut into small pieces.
-
Once the grains are ready, transfer them to a bowl.
-
Add the almond, walnut, raisins, and a drizzle of honey to your porridge.
-
Squeeze the juice of half a lemon over the top and finish with a pinch of cinnamon or cinnamon masala.
-
Take a moment to appreciate the fresh, vibrant colors and aromas of your Yogi Porridge before indulging.
